About Prima Guardian
Prima Guardian was founded in 2019 by Buppha Steer, a Thai national with over 30 years of professional experience across Thailand and the UK. Based in York, England, we specialise in full-time guardianship services for Thai students attending UK boarding schools.
We are not an agency. We are guardians — full time, hands-on, and always reachable. Our role is to act on behalf of parents, ensuring every student in our care is safe, supported, and thriving throughout their time in the UK.

What is a UK school guardian and why does my child need one?
A UK guardian acts as a local parent figure for international students studying at UK boarding schools. Guardians are responsible for the student’s welfare, emergency contact, homestay arrangements, and communication with the school — giving parents peace of mind while their child is thousands of miles away.
Is Prima Guardian officially accredited?
Yes. Prima Guardian holds AEGIS Preliminary Accreditation, confirmed in August 2024. AEGIS is the recognised accreditation body for guardianship organisations in the UK, and accreditation confirms that our practices meet the required quality and safeguarding standards.
What areas of the UK do you cover?
Our core service area covers Yorkshire and surrounding regions within 75 miles of our York office. For students attending schools further afield, we work in partnership with Quest Guardians, giving us access to over 400 homestays and guardianship support across the entire UK.
What types of homestay do you offer?
We offer both Thai–British and British-only host families, depending on your preference. All homestays are carefully selected and regularly reviewed to ensure they meet our safety, hygiene, and comfort standards. Homestay rates are £80–90 per day including three meals.
What happens if there is an emergency outside of school hours?
We provide 24-hour emergency support, 365 days a year. Parents and students can contact us at any time — whether it is a medical issue, a welfare concern, or an unexpected situation. No emergency is too small. We are always reachable.
How do you communicate with parents in Thailand?
We communicate with families primarily via LINE and WhatsApp, in Thai. We also send regular written updates by email. Our bilingual capability means parents never have to worry about language barriers — we handle all communication with schools and agencies in English on their behalf.
What is included in the Full Package?
Our Full Package at £2,950 per year includes full guardianship representation, homestay coordination, school visits each term, transport and airport transfer arrangements, 24-hour emergency support, and regular parent communication throughout the academic year.
Can my child's school recommend Prima Guardian?
Yes. We work with a number of leading UK boarding schools across Yorkshire and beyond, including Queen Ethelburga’s Collegiate, Bootham School, St Peter’s School York, Harrogate Ladies’ College, and more. If your child’s school is not on our current list, please contact us and we will be happy to discuss options.
How do I enrol my child with Prima Guardian?
Simply complete our New Student Application Form on our website. Once received, we will review your application and contact you directly to discuss your child’s needs, school, and preferred homestay options. You can also enquire through your Thai education agency.
We already have a homestay arranged — can Prima Guardian still act as guardian?
Yes. Our Emergency Guardian Only package at £1,500 per year is designed for families who have existing homestay arrangements but require a registered, AEGIS-accredited UK guardian for safeguarding and emergency purposes. This includes 24-hour emergency support, school communication, and full guardianship representation.
