For example, during the COVID-19 pandemic, some schools were required to close temporarily. In such circumstances, students may need to stay with their appointed guardian or an approved host family until they can safely return to school.

Through more than seven years of experience supporting Thai students in the UK, we have learned that many international students miss the comfort and familiarity of home. This often includes familiar food, language, culture, traditions, and the reassurance of family-style support.

For many Thai students, living with a Thai or Thai-British host family can help ease the transition to life in the UK. Host families who understand their cultural background and daily lifestyle can provide valuable emotional support, helping students settle more comfortably and confidently into their new environment.

Many of Prima Guardian’s host families are Thai British households, enabling students to enjoy both Thai and international cuisine while benefiting from a familiar cultural environment. Our host families maintain high standards of safeguarding, food hygiene, cultural awareness, and student welfare.

Our homestay network was originally established through trusted local families who share our commitment to safeguarding and supporting young international students. We carefully select host families who provide a warm, welcoming, and family oriented environment where students feel safe, respected, and supported.

All host families undergo appropriate safeguarding, suitability, and accommodation checks to help ensure that students are placed in a safe, secure, and supportive environment.

“We want every homestay to feel like a second home.”

2) Alternative Homestay Arrangements

Prima Guardian also fully supports students who wish to experience life with a British host family as part of their cultural and educational journey in the UK.

While many of our host families are based in the Midlands and the North of England, particularly within Yorkshire and the surrounding areas, some students may attend schools outside our homestay network. In these circumstances, we may recommend another AEGIS-accredited Guardianship Organisation that is better placed to provide local accommodation and welfare support.

Currently, Prima Guardian works closely with Quest Guardians, a trusted organisation that we are pleased to recommend where appropriate. Students and parents can learn more about Quest Guardians’ host families here:

Quest Guardians Host Families

Where a placement is arranged through Quest Guardians, students will be registered directly with Quest Guardians for guardianship and homestay services. However, Prima Guardian will continue to provide additional support to students and families through our Personal Assistance (PA) Service, including parent communication, welfare support, and Thai English interpretation where required.

Our priority is always to ensure that every student is placed in the most suitable, safe, and supportive environment, enabling them to thrive both academically and personally throughout their time in the UK.
